Cairns Speedway

So to start day two we rented a car.  We went to Target to do some shopping.  Some things you just can't find here like Crest toothpaste.  We finally found the plug converter we needed to charge up our camera and computers.  Diann needed a bath sponge and paid $4.99 for it..  Yes those things you can get for a dollar in the states.  We then took a  drive up the coast.  The long and winding road was terrifying.  I just knew I was not going to make it thru the day.  But we did and Diann got us around without a dent.  We went up the coast to Thala Lodge and had lunch.  It had beautiful views of the ocean.  As you can see below.

After lunch we drove back towards Cairns and stopped at the Cairns Tropical Zoo.  We each got to hold a Koala named Snoopy.  Snoopy needed a bath, he smelled.  We watched the crocodile show and the bird show.  They were both great.  We then went to see the Kangaroos and got to pet one.  Check out the pictures below.

Next is Crocodile Dundee.  Oh wait I mean just Crocodile, I couldn't find my Dundee.  Maybe if I go on a walkabout.

Then we watched the Birds in Flight.  They had a Magpie, Fig Parrots and Northern Grass Owls. 

After we left the zoo we went downtown Cairns to have some dinner.  We sat across from the waterfront it was a great view. 

So another day ends in the land down under.
